Do indoor cats need to be vaccinated too?
Yes, you still need to get your pet vaccinated even if it doesn’t go outside. It can still catch certain viruses and diseases.
What vaccines are available for cats?
The first vaccine that cats receive is the PVRCP vaccine, a core vaccine. It protects cats against three diseases: feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia (feline distemper).
Depending on your cat’s needs, the veterinarian can recommend other vaccines, such as the rabies and leukemia vaccines.
At what age should my kitten get its first vaccine?
Kittens get their first vaccine (PVRCP) around eight weeks old. The second dose is given at 12 weeks, and a third booster shot at 16 weeks.
